Tourism & Travel
Iran today is both modern and ancient. It is the most populous and the
second-largest country in the Middle East located south of the Caspian Sea and
north of the Persian Gulf.
About 11% of Iran, in the mountains bordering the Caspian Sea, is covered with
mostly deciduous forest. Brown forest soils found along the coasts of the
Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf are used extensively for farming. Iran has
extremely rich mineral resources, especially petroleum and natural gas.
Iran is a land of hospitality and warmness, with a rich, glorious and grand
cultural heritage.
Even though tourism in Iran is on the rise again, there are still many people in
the world that do not believe that it is easy to travel to Iran. Nothing could
be further from the truth.
Iran has something to offer to everyone. From culture lovers to the adventurous.
There are many sightseeing choices to choose from; mountain climbing, skiing,
shopping at many magnificent shops and bazaars, great resturants, splendid
parks, and of course historical and archaeological places of interest with over
5,000 years of history. It would take many weeks to see all that Iran has to
offer the visiting tourist.
It is easy to explore Iran with buses, trains and airplane. A major attraction
of Iran is that travel is inexpensive, and so are many of the fine arts and
crafts that you can buy there. It is easy to find accommodations in most places.
Tours which visit holy shrines, ancient cities, nomads, and the best shopping
and restaurants with experienced guides speaking most languages.
Iran is a very safe country to travel in regardless of your race, religion, or
gender. The crime rate in Iran is low.
Visa Information
In order to apply and get your visa you must contact to an approved Iranian
travel agent . After receiving your personal data , they apply to the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs. Your visa will then be authorized by the MFA and faxed to
the Iranian Consulate near you . Your travel agent give you avisa authorization
number with which you can refer to the consulate to get your visa . The visa
authorization number, however, is valid only in the consulate you have asked
them your visa to be issued in. The number they give you is just an
"authorization". This reference number means that your visa has been authorized
and approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs but it is not the visa itself.

Climate
Iran's climate is mostly arid or semiarid, to subtropical along the Caspian
coast. On the northern edge of the country (the Caspian coastal plain)
temperatures nearly fall below freezing and remain humid for the rest of the
year. Summer temperatures rarely exceed 29°C (84°F). Annual precipitation is 680
mm (27 in) in the eastern part of the plain and more than 1,700 mm (67 in) in
the western. To the west, settlements in the Zagros Mountains basin experience
lower temperatures, severe winters, sub-freezing average daily temperatures and
heavy snowfall. The eastern and central basins are arid, with less than 200 mm
(eight in) of rain and have occasional desert. Average summer temperatures
exceed 38°C (100°F). The coastal plains of the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman in
southern Iran have mild winters, and very humid and hot summers. The annual
precipitation ranges from 135 to 355 mm (five to 14 inch).
